MSN Pre-Neurology Education Task Force

Introduction

On average, most neurology trainees will have a 3-4 year gap between passing MMed/MRCP and starting neurology training (Pre-Neurology Stage). This is a golden learning period to prepare a person for neurology training and to cultivate interest in those who are undecided on what to specialise in.

Mission of the Task Force

To build the basis of clinical neurology among those in the pre-neurology (post-MMed/MRCP) or pre-MMed/MRCP (senior Mos) stages, and empower them to function as intermediate neurology trainees/MOs, especially in hospitals without a neurologist, using physical/hybrid case-based learning and hands-on modules.

Neurology Modules

Target participants

• Those who passed MRCP/MMed before joining Neurology Training (Pre-Neurology Stage), or medical officers interested in neurology.

Format of Teaching Module

• 4 courses a year, intensive, 2-4 days, case-based and hands-on workshops, with short-case sessions
• Organised in different states and universities
• The courses are not exam-oriented, different from the PACES preparatory course. However, the content can still benefit those preparing for an examination.

Attraction of the courses

• Emphasis on clinical case exposure and skills training
• It is not a Prerequisite for Neurology Training
• It helps the participants build a network with neurologists
