BNC Neuroscience Excellence Award 2026
The BNC Neuroscience Excellence Award 2026 is presented to Prof. Dr. Ling King Hwa in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of basic neuroscience in Malaysia and his instrumental role in the establishment of the Basic Neuroscience Council (BNC) under the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences (MSN).
Prof. Ling was one of the key figures involved in initiating the formation of BNC. Together with his colleagues, he proposed the establishment of BNC to MSN as a dedicated platform to promote basic neuroscience research, collaboration, training, and capacity building in Malaysia.
He subsequently served as the Protem Chair of BNC from 18 June 2011 to 11 June 2013, helping to guide the chapter during its formative period. His leadership laid the foundation for BNC’s continued growth as an important platform for basic and translational neuroscience within MSN.
Prof. Ling’s long-standing service to MSN and BNC also includes his roles as Vice President of MSN and Co-Chair of BNC. He is currently Professor of Neuroscience and Genetics at Universiti Putra Malaysia and has contributed significantly to neuroscience research, academic leadership, and the training of future neuroscientists.
As the inaugural recipient of this award, Prof. Ling is recognised for his founding leadership, sustained service, and valuable contributions to BNC and the Malaysian neuroscience community.
