Paediatric Neurologist/Developmental Paediatrician (starting 2027)

1. Background

The MSN Outstanding Achievement Award, is proposed as a way of recognizing the numerous & valuable contributions made by outstanding members of Malaysian citizen aged 40-55 years old who are still actively working.

2. Selection Committee

A selection committee will be appointed by MSN executive committee to assist in screening, shortlisting and decide on the winner selection.

3. Selection Process

The selection committee will select ONE awardee annually

4. Selection Criteria

The criteria are set into 5 broad categories, and each is given a score of 1 – 5 (i.e. 1 for minimal contribution and 5 for significant contribution). The total score will be the sum from all 5 categories.

• Clinical Excellence (40%)
• Research & Innovation (20%)
• Leadership (15%)
• Education (15%) and
• Community Service (10%)

The shortlisted nominees must attach the evidence for each category

5. Proposal of nomination submission

Any active MSN Life member can submit one proposal each. The proposer needs to write a proposal listing out the contributions of the nominee in all the five categories as stated above. A successful awardee may not be proposed again in the future. The nomination can be sent via email to : [email protected]

6. Award

The awardee will receive a plaque, a certificate of appreciation and MYR 1,000

BNC Neuroscience Excellence Award 2026

1. Background

The BNC Neuroscience Excellence Award 2026 is proposed to recognise outstanding members of the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences / Basic Neuroscience Council (MSN/BNC) who have made significant contributions to the advancement of basic neuroscience through research, innovation, leadership, education, mentorship, and service to the neuroscience community.

This award aims to highlight the important role of BNC members in strengthening basic neuroscience research capacity, promoting scientific excellence, and supporting the development of the Malaysian neuroscience community under MSN.

2. Eligibility

The nominee must be an active MSN/BNC member who is involved in basic, preclinical, translational, or experimental neuroscience. The nominee should have demonstrated significant contribution to neuroscience research, training, leadership, and/or service to BNC/MSN.

A previous recipient of this award may not be nominated again in the future.

3. Selection Committee

A selection committee will be appointed by the MSN Executive Committee and/or BNC to assist in screening, shortlisting, and selecting the award recipient. Members of the selection committee must declare any conflict of interest and should not score nominees where a direct conflict exists.

4. Selection Process

The selection committee will select one awardee annually, subject to the quality of nominations received.

5. Selection Criteria

The criteria are divided into five broad categories. Each category will be scored from 1 to 5, where 1 indicates minimal contribution and 5 indicates significant contribution. The final score will be weighted according to the percentage assigned to each category.

• Research Excellence in Basic Neuroscience (40%)
• Research Innovation and Scientific Impact (20%)
• Leadership and Contribution to BNC/MSN (15%)
• Education, Mentorship, and Capacity Building (15%)
• Community Engagement and Neuroscience Advocacy (10%)

Shortlisted nominees must provide supporting evidence for each category.

6. Nomination Submission

Any active MSN/BNC member may submit one nomination. The proposer should provide a written nomination describing the nominee’s contributions according to the selection criteria above.

The nomination should include:

• Nomination letter
• Short CV of the nominee
• Evidence of research contribution
• Evidence of mentorship, leadership, and service to BNC/MSN
• Selected publications, grants, awards, invited talks, or relevant academic/community activities

7. Award

The awardee will receive a plaque, a certificate of appreciation, and MYR 1,000, subject to approval by MSN/BNC.
